The initial payment for the purchase of The Heights was made with funds accumulated through the generous support given to the Victorian Welfare Association over many years. Greatly valued donations had also been received from Christian Science Churches, members and friends. The purchase of Life Leases by individuals enabled the construction of the associated garden units to proceed.
Since then, modest changes in Town Planning requirements and donations and legacies from supporters have enabled:
• Extensions to the main wing to incorporate a separate care room with its own entry and adjoining carer’s room for times when special care is needed.
• A communal social/recreation room to be added and
• A number of units to be extended.
Four of the smaller units have subsequently been combined to provide two large units. New kitchens have been installed as appropriate and all areas are carefully maintained to ensure high standards.
